Neighbors calling on city to remove ‘eyesore’ tree fallen on abandoned house

Families in one west side neighborhood want the city to address a tree that fell onto a vacant home before someone gets hurt.

Neighbors said the fallen tree is an eyesore for the area but their biggest concern is safety.

As clean-up has taken place from a wind storm within the City of Erie, neighbors of a west side neighborhood are making an effort to have a fallen tree removed from an abandoned home.

“This is our problem, as you can see the tree has fallen on it it’s been abandoned for a couple of years now, I’ve contacted the code enforcement several times nothing’s been done about it,” said John Arrington, neighbor.

Clean-up continues in the area after strong winds sweep the region

But Harrington said this is not the first encounter with this home or a tree.

“There’s a tree that fell on the back end of the house that happened last year nothing was done about it,” Arrington said.

The tree not only causing an inconvenience and becoming an eyesore for the area, Arington said it poses a safety concern for many.
