Joselynn Zaffuto is a labor and delivery nurse with the travel team of UPMC Hamot who had been with the hospital for twelve years.

Zafutto said as of ten days ago staff was informed that they would meet one one-on-one with clinicians HR to discuss a few changes.

“The next day one-on-ones started leaking out that we were going to have a fifteen percent pay decrease. So it was all these thank you’s then all of a sudden a slap in your face,” said Zaffuto.

She said the changes go beyond the pay decrease.

“Some changes to the program, changes how our stipend was paid, changes how our PTO was paid,” said Zaffuto.

Zaffuto said many attempts have been made to get answers, but their questions are still unanswered today.

“I had my one-on-one. I had questions that couldn’t be answered. I finally, in frustration, said ‘is this going to happen again?’ and they were like probably. I said ‘oh, are we going to be notified of this change?’ ‘we don’t know we do this market analysis and this is where we go.’”
