One man is dead after being hit by a car early Saturday morning.
According to the Erie County Coroner 38-year-old Robert Doty, of Erie, was hit around 1 a.m. on Jan. 27 in the 100 block of West 12th Street.

The victim later died from his injuries after being taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the car was reportedly taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and later released pending further investigation.
“Our traffic investigators will be working closely with the District Attorney’s Office. They’re going over surveillance footage as we speak. We have a little insight as to what happened. It appears that the pedestrian was crossing the street and was in dark clothing when he was struck,” said Deputy Chief Rick Lorah, City of Erie Police.
Erie police said the suspect who was taken into custody could later face serious charges.
