If you’ve noticed the return of potholes across the region, you’re not alone. They’re back thanks to a wild swing between mild and then icy cold temperatures. That change in temperature, certainly does cause the potholes to pop out according to Jeff Gibbens, streets bureau chief. “You get water down in the crack and it gets cold and freezes and it pops everything out this time of year. It’s typical since…the road’s not frozen. So if you do see a pothole you want to call the streets department at 814-870-1340 to get them reported. We’re filling them around the clock,” Gibbens said.
