A new Turkish bakery opened on State Street in the former downtown Starbucks location.

“Erie was so supportive when it comes to small business, I’m very thankful and I think I’m not moving out I think erie is my home now,” said Maftuna Rakhimova, co-owner of Bakery on 5th.
Iranian immigrant Maftuna Rakhimova is now serving Turkish baked goods in downtown Erie at Bakery on 5th.
“I think there’s definitely something missing here since Starbucks closed and I think that everybody’s returning back to work I’m just excited for everyone having another option and something very different that we don’t normally get to see in a city like erie,” said Irmela Fazlic, who was enjoying the bakery.
