TikTok fraud scheme leaves Pennsylvania woman out nearly $13,000

( WJET/WFXP ) — State police are investigating after an Erie County woman was scammed out of thousands of dollars from TikTok.

According to a Feb. 6 report, the 41-year-old victim from Union City notified police of the theft saying she previously used PayPal to purchase an item on the TikTok Shop .

After that initial payment, “hundreds of small amount unauthorized transactions” were charged to the victim’s bank account between Feb. 25, 2023, to Oct. 28, 2023.

In total, $12,638.4 was charged to the victim’s account. No other details were reported, and police continue to investigate.
