The Erie Times-News is transitioning to postal delivery

Starting March 18 the U.S. Postal Service will be delivering the Erie Times-News to optimize resources amidst increasing digital readership demand.

The round-the-clock online news cycle has made digital products the first choice for breaking-news, and print subscribers are increasingly engaging digitally. As such, the Erie Times-News will be putting renewed emphasis on the printed newspaper as a place readers can dive into local news with more impact and context, feel-good community features, sports analysis and commentary — the stories you can’t get anywhere else.

“While the way we deliver our product may be changing, our commitment to local news remains steadfast,” local editor Melissa Lee said. “We will continue to cover the stories that matter to our readers, and our community,” added local editor Tony Battaglia.

Like many other newspaper publishers, Gannett Co. Inc., which operates more than 200 daily local newspapers including the Erie Times-News, has already successfully introduced the approach in dozens of markets across the country, and is expanding the initiative.
