Talk of a fight at recess, possibly involving weapons, launched an investigation by Millcreek Township School District officials at Asbury Elementary School on Wednesday.
No weapons were found, and the parents of those involved in the incident were notified, district officials reported in an alert issued to parents of children at the school.
In a group chat between students, a couple of students said they wanted to fight at recess, LiAnna Schwerer, coordinator of school communications for the district, said Thursday. There was reportedly mention of bringing weapons to the school, according to the message sent to parents.
District administrators and members of the district’s security team investigated the matter and found no weapons, according to Schwerer and information in the message. Officials wrote that appropriate procedures are being followed and classes will continue to operate as usual.
