Cathedral Prep wrestling looks ahead after winless PIAA team tournament

HERSHEY — Of course they hoped this year would yield different results.

The 2024 PIAA Class 3A team wrestling tournament, however, provided another learning experience for Cathedral Prep.

The Ramblers fell to District 7 champion Connellsville, 48-13, in a Friday consolation after dropping their opener Thursday to Pennridge. Another 0-2 PIAA finish wasn’t what the District 10 champions wanted, but after seeing some of the state’s best large-school talent, they’ll aim to respond strongly come individual postseason.

“Last night we got beat by a better team and today we got beat by a better team,” said Cathedral Prep head coach Mike Hahsey. “Some of our kids wrestled well and I hope they learned something.”

Ramblers fall short

Prep hoped to best last year’s 0-2 showing at team states. A pair of loaded squads awaited the Ramblers, however, and Connellsville won five of Friday’s first six matches to set the tone.
