We met some intelligent students Saturday who are passionate about the future and working as a team.
“We hope that we get a trophy, but we really don’t care if we do we’re just trying to have a lot of fun,” said Trent Senita, seventh grader on the J.S. Wilson Middle School robotics team.
Robots took over the Junker Center at Penn State Behrend as the 14th annual Northwest Regional Pennsylvania first Lego League Championship took place.

25 Teams of middle-schoolers from the region took the time to design and program for this year’s theme which was ‘masterpiece.’
Competitors were to create and communicate art to win recognition and claim the overall champion’s award.
“They get judged on their presentation. They get judged on their values, how they work as a team. They get judged on how they design their robot, why they did what they did,” said Melanie Ford, director of Youth Education Outreach at Penn State Behrend.
