A local medical center is welcoming a new CEO.
The Multi-Cultural Health Evaluation Delivery System (MHEDS) appointed Alivia Haibach as their new CEO. She is an Erie native and alumna of Allegheny College where she earned a bachelor’s degree in internal relations with a focus on the Middle East.

After graduation, Hibach lived in China where she said she fell down the stairs and broke her foot a week after living there.
Haibach said a language barrier between herself and an interpreter for the doctor cemented the critical role of having culturally competent healthcare.
“I think we really need more folks to come alongside and understand how difficult resettlement can be for people. That initial 90 days, that 180 days. Being a support in the community really can make or break someone’s resettlement experience and determine whether or not they remain in Erie or resettle elsewhere in the country,” said Haibach.
