Corry mother accused of starving toddler appears in court

Corry mother Kayle Mealy was on trial on Tuesday for allegedly causing the starvation death of her 2-year-old son.

Erie County District Attorney Elizabeth Hirz alleged Mealy’s neglect caused the death of her son in 2021. Hirz called several witnesses to the stand, including City of Corry Police Officer Brett Sproveri.

During his testimony, the prosecution played his interview with Mealy for the courtroom, during which Mealy stated she left her son alone for several hours in his crib.

The prosecution also shared photos of the crime scene with the courtroom that showed the living conditions. Several members of law enforcement testified they saw feces smeared on the crib.
