Police: 6-year-old boy struck by car in Westfield suffers broken leg

A 6-year-old boy was struck by a car in Westfield Friday afternoon.

Police say it happened around 1:45 p.m. on East South Avenue. They say the boy was walking with his older brother on the sidewalk when he was struck by someone pulling out of a parking lot.

The boy’s leg and foot were caught under the car, fracturing parts of his leg.

Police say the cause of the incident is under investigation, but they believe the driver was not paying attention at the time.
