Severe Weather Developing in Parts of Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and New York

Special Marine Warnings Issued Over Eastern Lake Erie

Good afternoon everyone. As discussed in this morning’s article, we are beginning to see the forecast come to fruition in regards to scattered severe weather developing across the region.

Low pressure hanging back over the Great Lakes region and slowly meandering east, is sending spokes of energy through the Ohio River Valley and Northeast that’ll continue to bump into warm, muggy air. This is providing enough instability to pop off heavy showers and thunderstorms in individual popcorn-like cells.

While we don’t have any severe thunderstorm watches at this time, we do have special marine warnings posted along the Erie, PA shoreline of Lake Erie, as well as Ashtabula, OH. Locally damaging winds and large waves are associated with these storms, so it is advised that small vessels stay off of the water.

We will watch these storms transit parts of lower Michigan, Ohio, western Pennsylvania, and western New York throughout the day. Look for locally severe weather possible, with large hail, damaging winds, frequent lightning, torrential rain, and the chance of a few tornadoes.
