If you liked last week’s poll about pizza, you’ll probably love this week’s poll about Erie’s favorite traditional, bone-in chicken wings. There’s no way we could list all the wing joints in town, but I came up with what I think is a pretty inclusive bunch. And if you don’t see your favorite spot there, you can always write it in the “other” category.
If you’d prefer to make your own wings, I wholeheartedly encourage it. My husband and son ate so many of these, I could make them in my sleep. Here’s the easiest way I’ve found to do it, which involves both the oven and the air fryer
JENNIE’S CHICKEN WINGS
- 4 pounds frozen chicken wing sections
- 1/4 cup Frank’s Red Hot Buffalo Wing flavor, or to taste
- That’s it.
- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Spread the wing sections out on a rimmed baking sheet.
- Cook 20-25 minutes in the oven, taking care not to spill the hot liquid off the pan. Drain the pan into a large bowl you can deal with later.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400 for 5 minutes. Once it’s preheated, using tongs, transfer as many of the now-thawed wings as you can in a single layer in the basket of the air fryer.
- Air-fry them at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. They should be somewhat browned and crispy. Using tongs, remove the wings from the basket and put them in a large bowl. Toss wings with wing sauce. Work in batches if necessary.
- Serve hot with plenty of napkins.
