Erie police are searching for suspects and a stolen car in a reported armed assault and robbery in a westside neighborhood early Wednesday morning.
Police said the incident was reported on Wednesday at about 12:55 a.m. in the 300 block of West Second Street. Police were called to the area on a report of two males with weapons who had reportedly attacked someone, Deputy Chief Rick Lorah said.
Responding officers encountered two juvenile females who said they were hanging out with two males in a burgundy-colored Kia sedan when the driver stopped in the 300 block of West Second Street to speak to someone at a residence in the neighborhood. When the two males who had gone to the residence returned to the vehicle, they were reportedly followed by two males wearing black clothing and ski masks and carrying rifles, Lorah said.
Police were told the suspects reportedly told the occupants of the car to give up everything they had, and they opened the front doors of the car and began striking the two male victims with the rifles, according to Lorah. The victims fled from the vehicle and the suspects took the car and its contents, he said.
