Folks in Erie have long been enthusiastic fans of whatever new chain restaurant was coming to town.
When Red Lobster opened in Millcreek Township in 1987, customers waited in line 2½ hours before biting into their first cheesy biscuit. More recently, big crowds have welcomed IHOP and Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen when they opened in their respective locations.
No wonder there’s some internet buzz on sites such as Reddit debating the virtues of Raising Cane’s , the Baton Rouge, Louisiana-based chain, famous for its chicken fingers and signature Cane’s sauce.
A quick internet search seems to confirm rumors that Cane’s might be bringing its chicken, Texas toast and crinkle-cut fries to Erie. Both Mapquest and Yelp pages identify 3870 Peach St. as the location of Raising Cane’s. The existence of an Erie location is also mentioned on TikTok and by a website called Roadtrippers .
There’s a different restaurant at that location
But there’s a problem with that information. That Peach Street address is the home of Papa John’s pizza.
