( WJET/WFXP ) — EmergyCare held its second annual EmergyRace on Sunday, Sept. 29.
The event — styled on the reality TV show “The Amazing Race” — had teams of two traveling to 15 spots throughout Erie.

At each spot, the teams had to perform physical and mental challenges. Organizers timed the teams, and kept track of which challenges they finished.
The race is in memory of Kyle Swain, a former EmergyCare employee who passed away from heat exhaustion during a military training.

“(Swain’s) family had started an event to raise money for EmergyCare and asked us to partner with them,” said Karen Jakiel, EmergyCare’s director of community development. “It’s morphed into the EmergyRace.”
Funds raised during the event will go toward EmergyCare’s educational programming.
