Rev. Jesse Jackson tours Erie pressing the need to get out and vote

Prominent civil rights leader the Reverend Jesse Jackson and his son former U.S. Representative Jesse Jackson Jr. toured Erie on Wednesday with a political message.

Reverend Jackson toured the Boys and Girls Club and then the Eagles Nest Leadership Corporation.

They connected with around 600 children they met throughout the day and encouraged their parents to vote in the upcoming election.

“Erie County is going to play an extremely important part of that. And that’s why Reverend Jackson, at 83, struggling with Parkinson’s, came out of his home, came out of retirement to be here to sound the bell and to sound the alarm that participating in this election is not an option. We have to get out and vote,” said Jesse Jackson Jr., former U.S. representative.

The Jacksons have been touring Pennsylvania to press the need for everybody to vote.
