The veteran’s home has had some significant changes since then, such as its chapel, which serves as a place of worship and a meeting place for the many veterans who live there.
The home’s volunteer coordinator said the facility has also expanded to offer veterans better medical care, recreation and opportunities to honor their service.

“To have a designated home for veterans and their spouses really shows not only Erie’s efforts, but the state’s efforts as well to make sure that our veterans are cared for, and that’s really the importance of why we were founded in the first place,” said Ken Vybiral, volunteer resources coordinator for the Erie Soldiers and Sailors Home.
