JET 24 and LECOM Health have teamed up with Embracing Our Veterans to help local vets get back on their feet.
Many of the vets have spent a period of time homeless.
Lou Baxter has the story of an army vet who is now working for other veterans living in the Erie community.
Robert Ghigliotty, 55, is an army veteran who served in the late 80s and early 90s.
He enlisted before he graduated from high school to provide some financial stability as he was about to become a father.
The army trained him to work in communications.
“Originally I was working satellite, then I moved to tech controller. When I moved to Korea, they had me working on microwaves,” said Robert Ghigliotty, U.S. Army veteran
After the service, he worked in a variety of odd jobs, mostly construction,m traveling the lower 48 to wherever there was work
“I’ve always been that guy that if the job’s in Oregon and you’re not working here in Pennsylvania, welp I guess we’re going to Oregon. Pack up and go,” he added.
This nomadic, spur-of-the-moment lifestyle often left him with less than satisfactory living situations.
