Brookside Fire Department holds first of its kind ‘Howl-O-Ween’ event

And while Tucker and other dogs are hard at work, some pups took a chance at winning gold at a local volunteer fire department.

Therapy Dogs United hosted the first “Howl-O-Ween” costume contest at Brookside Fire Department on Sunday, bringing in some creative dogs showing off their Halloween spirit.

The event featured prizes for costume winners, a gift basket raffle, and snacks for attendees to enjoy.

Dog owners paid $3 to enter the contest and the money raised will benefit Therapy Dogs United.

“We are actually a nonprofit and we visit schools and hospitals and places of employment. We visit anywhere that anybody needs some extra love from dogs, that’s where we’ll be,” said Melinda Juratovic, therapy dog handler.

Therapy Dogs United offers medical dogs, companion dogs, and other support for those looking for a service dog.
