The City of Erie’s Police Department will be getting a major upgrade thanks to an $865,000 grant.
According to Chief Dan Spizarny, their budget could never support all their needs, but grants like this one help them continue to make Erie a safer community.
The $865,000 in funding will go towards upgrading equipment and technologies for their police department.
This request was made through U.S. Representative Mike Kelly’s (R-District 16) office, which he said public safety is a crucial issue right now.

“Those men and women who put their lives on the line every day to protect our city, we have to be able to show them we appropriate what they are doing and try to help them get the job done,” said Rep. Kelly. “I think it’s really critical that public knows because of their investment, their taxes is being used the right way to increase their safety.”
For $492,000, the department will get technology enhancements.
