Nearly a dozen kids taken to hospital after charter bus crashes into East Springfield home

( WJET/WFXP ) – Nearly a dozen children were transported to the hospital after a charter bus crashed into an East Springfield house Wednesday morning.

That accident happened around 10:20 a.m. in the 4900 block of Route 215.

According to Pennsylvania State Police and the West County Paramedics, the bus was carrying dozens of kids and teachers to a day out at Camp Fitch.

The crash happened when the charter bus went through the intersection of Route 215 and Route 20 (Ridge Road) when it nearly collided with a produce box truck traveling west on Route 20.

The charter bus was forced off the road and into the front of a nearby home causing heavy damage. The box truck wound up hitting nearby trees.

First responders told us there were close to 40 people on board.
