Erie County Executive criticizes board of elections over election fumbles

The election is over, but the Erie County Board of Elections continues to be under fire on Wednesday.

This time it’s Erie County Executive Brenton Davis who’s criticizing the board of elections officials.

But the chair of the board of elections has his own harsh words for Davis.

“At a time when we should be reaffirming people’s feelings of security and secure and fair elections, they failed,” Davis said.

Davis called out the board of elections saying they dropped the ball repeatedly leading up to and even following the election. He cited a lawsuit over mail-in ballots that didn’t reach voters in a timely manner.

“You have 13,000 mail-in ballots. There are a lot of folks who didn’t get to vote who wished to cast a vote and requested one. To me that’s 100% unacceptable,” he explained.

Davis added the fumbles continued on election night when it took hours for early returns to make it to the county website after polls closed.
