Erie Vietnam veterans honor Veterans Day with special ceremony

Local veterans took time to commemorate Veterans Day at the Erie County Veterans Memorial Park.

While ceremonies were held all throughout Erie County Monday and over the past several days, one in particular holds great meaning for several local veterans.

For veterans, the word service comes almost as naturally as breathing. But that service to our country is acknowledged as the sacrifice that it is, as all veterans know, freedom doesn’t come free.

“This is a time for us to remember all Veterans that served whether in peacetime or war. . . those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, those that never returned, those whose families have sacrificed for us. We give this day to all veterans and their family with honor, dignity, and pride,” said Dave Lesnieski, a Vietnam veteran.

Local Vietnam veterans observed Veterans Day at the Erie County Veterans Memorial Park Monday morning. Many remembering their time serving our country with pride.
