Veterans Day is just around the corner and the Erie community gathered Sunday morning to give back to those brave individuals who served.
Veterans Day is a day to honor and celebrate our veterans, and the community gave veterans the recognition they deserve on Sunday.
“Veterans Day is like Christmas for veterans, and I know every one of them appreciates it,” said Kenny Smith, Vietnam Navy veteran.
Veterans make the ultimate sacrifice, risking their lives in defense of the United States and the freedoms of its citizens.
At the Polish Falcons Club on East 3rd Street on Nov. 10, local unions gave back to the veteran community, hosting a free breakfast for veterans and their families.
“Anytime that we can get our veterans together and share that camaraderie over a shared meal always is a great experience. It allows them to reconnect with fellow veterans and friends that they haven’t seen in years,” said Ken Vybiral, Erie-Crawford Central Labor Council.
Vybiral added the 8th annual Veterans Breakfast is an opportunity to show appreciation for veterans and let them know that their service matters.
