An East Erie fire sent a 13-year-old boy to the hospital on Saturday morning.
That fire took place in the 400 block of East 7th Street where Erie firefighters responded to a house fire.

The chief fire marshall said the initial call was for a traumatic injury. He said heavy fire was coming out of the east side of the house on the second floor.
A 13-year-old boy injured his hand in the fire and was taken to UPMC Hamot for treatment.

“Our guys got the fire out pretty quickly there was heavy damage throughout the second floor of the house from the fire and there was a lot of water damage throughout the first floor and in the basement from that same incident,” said Donald Sauer, chief fire marshall for the Erie Fire Department.
Sauer said the fire was ruled as accidental. The cause remains under investigation.
