Viking Plastics in Corry was sold recently. Now, a new CEO is taking over.

Kelly Goodsel, a 37-year veteran of the plastics industry, including 24 years with Corry-based Viking Plastics, has stepped down as CEO of the company.

Goodsel, who had an ownership stake in the company for 18 years, left as part of a strategic succession plan, according to a news release from Viking.

Viking, which has been in business for 52 years, was recently sold to the Hoffman Family of Companies, a family-owned private equity firm based in Florida.

Goodsel, who earned a degree in plastics engineering from Ferris State University and an MBA from Temple University, joined Viking in 2000.

Under his leadership, the company was a repeat winner of the General Motors Supplier Quality Excellence Award. The company also was honored as a recipient of a 2018 Commitment to Erie Award, presented by the Erie Times-News.

In addition to his work with the company, Goodsel is well known as the volleyball coach for Corry High School.
