Busti House Fire Caused by Vent Pipe Failure Near Stove

Flames ravaged a residence in the Town of Busti late Monday afternoon. The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office says Busti Fire and a number of mutual aid departments were called to 2938 Riverside Road at about 5:15 PM. After crews extinguished the blaze, the county’s Fire Investigation Team determined that the fire originated in the area of a pellet stove on the first floor as a result of a vent pipe failure. No injuries were reported. Due to safety concerns, the residence underwent an emergency demolition. Fire departments that assisted were Ashville, Frewsburg, Kiantone and Lakewood.
