( WJET/WFXP ) — Needed railroad work will close down portions of City of Erie streets starting next week, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
A section of Route 5 in the city will be closed to through traffic from Nov. 18-22 as CSX Transportation crews make repairs to the railroad crossing near the intersection of Route 5 and Downing Avenue.
A detour will be posted using Franklin Avenue, 12th Street, Bayfront Parkway (Route 4034), and 6th Street.
Drivers are advised to slow down in work zones and stay alert to any traffic conditions that may change.
