Erie residents still digging themselves out three days into historic winter storm

Erie, PA ( WJET/WFXP )– It’s now day three of the winter storm and thousands of people across Erie County are still braving the storm.

Many Erie residents are still trapped in their neighborhoods as snow continues to fall, with even more snow expected to fall throughout the week.

Lake Effect Snow Warning extended; Sunday closures and travel alerts

Since Friday, several feet of snow has piled up on streets and houses across Erie County, and more snow is on the way.

One City of Erie resident has lived in Erie for six years, and she said this is the worst she’s seen in her time living here.

“I’m truly thinking about just shoveling the road at this point, because I don’t think any plows can fit through here, and it’s the only way to get some of our cars out of the way,” said Ashtin Petitt, a City of Erie resident. “The problem is with the snow plows, a lot of them are breaking down because the snow is so heavy, so it’s hard to get through.”
