Pennsylvania county official provides update on emergency efforts

ERIE, Pa. ( WJET/WFXP ) — Erie County Executive Brenton Davis is providing updates on the emergency response around the county, joined by PennDOT secretary Mike Carroll and others.

A Local Disaster Emergency was declared the evening of Friday, Nov. 29 after severe winter weather caused several road closures, power outages and stranded motorists and will stay in effect until the middle of the coming week. So far, 36 inches has fallen in Summit Township with totals varying across the county.

Since then, members of the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Association (PEMA), PA National Guard, county and municipal organizations have been working to clear roads and provide relief around the county but there is still plenty of work to be done.

Davis said the National Guard is here for emergency management, helping people stranded along roadways or at home with no power or heat however most of that done. The National Guard is also making sure essential workers like healthcare providers can get to work who can call their work to get a ride at the county non-emergency line at 211.
