Local fire departments battle flames, rescue cats from Fairview Twp. house fire

Several fire departments responded to a quickly spreading kitchen fire Sunday afternoon.

Fairview Fire and Rescue received a call around 12:30 p.m. Sunday with reports of a pot catching fire on a stove in a home near Dobler Road in Fairview Township.

According to those on the scene, when crews attempted to put out that fire, first responders quickly discovered the flames had spread to further parts of the home.

Fairview Fire and Rescue called for help from several other local departments and the additional crews were eventually able to help extinguish the flames.

Several cats were rescued from the building, and no injuries were reported.
