As rain fell throughout the Erie region, many people were just thankful it was not more snow.
Snowpacks and ice continued to thaw after a record-breaking snowstorm, which led to what county leaders are saying was the largest PennDOT deployment in history.
In total, PennDOT road crews and private drivers called in totaled between 15,000 to 20,000 hours worked.
“Comparing to 2017, which was the most recent declaration disaster we’ve had for snow, this, according to the National Weather Service beat that significantly and in a shorter period of time,” said Erie County Executive Brenton Davis.

Davis said in 2017, it took 14 days to clear that snow and said this time, it took six days to get almost everything back up and running.
With emergency declarations by the city and county, the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency along with the National Guard were called in to assist.
As of Saturday night, both of those resources have been deactivated.
