A City of Erie couple faces charges Wednesday night in connection with their two-year-old son’s critical head injury.
Mathew Engle, 27, and 26-year-old Megan Bokros were arrested Saturday in connection with two incidents that happened over the summer.

According to the criminal complaint, on August 27, the toddler fell down the stairs and went unconscious. The next day, he began vomiting excessively and complaining of head pain due to a concussion.
But according to police, the couple did not seek medical attention for their son. A second incident occurred in the driveway outside their home on the 600 block of Plum Street.

On September 4, Engle allegedly caused further injury to the child when he yanked him out of the car, striking his head.
“At that time the child suffered a skull fracture, and was life-flighted down to Pittsburgh and that’s when we were contacted and we stepped in. And there was a long investigation into this. It’s active and ongoing at this time,” said Rick Lorah, deputy chief of the City of Erie Police.
