Downtown d’Lights brings the Christmas spirit to the City of Erie

Christmas has arrived in the city as Downtown d’Lights kicked off in Perry Square Friday evening.

Erie residents came together for a delightful time to participate in this year’s event.

Dave Tamulonis, the events and marketing manager of Erie Downtown Partnership, said preparation typically takes two weeks but this year was slightly different following the snowstorm.

“Pushing it back a week, we are coinciding with Gallery Night, which I think is a happy accident. There’s tons of stuff happening downtown,” said Tamulonis.

The wintry scene is set in Perry Square with children enjoying the snow, ice skating, and crowds gathering for the tree lighting.

After the recent snowstorm, Tamulonis said he is happy to welcome everybody back to downtown Erie to Downtown d’Lights.

“It’s become a real tradition for Erie families we get people from all across the region. We’re glad that we could give the community a Downtown d’Lights that they have come to know and love and be able to really put on the full celebration even after the winter storm,” he added.
