EPD hosts Shop with a Cop event for kids involved in Police Athletic League

Holiday shopping was on schedule for the police athletic league Wednesday evening.

The Erie Police Department’s youth outreach program hosted a “Shop with a Cop” event at Dick’s Sporting Goods.

The league and Dick’s provided $100 each for the night of shopping.

Lieutenant Tom Lenox said the ten members chosen have been with the organization for over seven years, and this is a recognition of their outstanding service.

“They’re good students, they’re good role models, they carry themselves well in the community, and so this is basically our treat to them to let them that hey, everything you do on a daily basis doesn’t go unnoticed,” said Lenox.

Lenox said the Police Athletic League will also provide a gift to all 1,700 members before Christmas Day.
