Two people arrested in connection to west Erie homicide

Erie police have arrested two suspects in connection to the homicide in west Erie Tuesday which left one 17-year-old boy dead and another in critical condition.

Erie police announced the arrests of 17-year-old Jahmeir Bibbs and 18-year-old Martavion Thompson.

Both Thompsom and Bibbs are facing charges including Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Murder, 2 counts of attempted homicide, 6 counts of Aggravated Assault, and 10 counts of Reckless Endangerment.

Teenage victim identified in west Erie homicide on Tuesday

On Wednesday, Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook identified the 17-year-old victim as Armani Cantu of Erie ruling the death as a homicide. Another 17-year-old was shot in the face and is in critical but stable condition.

It happened near the intersection of West 31st and Liberty Streets and gunfire resulted in the death of an Erie teen.

Police said this was a targeted attack with one group of individuals firing what are believed to be handguns out of their vehicle into another group of individuals on the sidewalk.
