Crash Between Car and Gas Delivery Truck Shuts Down Route 60, Sinclairville Woman Ticketed

A crash involving a car and a tractor-trailer hauling gasoline shut down a portion of Route 60 in the Town of Gerry on Saturday. The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office reports that 22-year-old Aurora Wilson of Sinclairville was traveling south on Route 60 at about 10:15 AM, when she tried to make a left turn onto Bloomer Street in the village. Deputies determined that Wilson allegedly failed to yield to oncoming traffic and turned in front of the truck, driven by 49-year-old Michael Phillips of Marion. The crash caused the tractor-trailer to flip into a ditch. Deputies say both vehicles were extensively damaged in the crash, and the truck began leaking gasoline. The Chautauqua County HAZMAT Team, Sinclairville and Gerry firefighters, County Fire Police, County EMS, and the New York State DEC assisted at the scene. The Sheriff’s Office says Wilson was transported to UPMC Chautauqua for minor injuries and was later issued traffic citations. Phillips was not injured. Route 60 is closed between Kimball Stand and Sylvester Road and will remain closed throughout the day while authorities work to remove both vehicles.
