Families were sliding into the holiday spirit Saturday afternoon.
Lake Erie Sports Alliance held its Grinchmas Extravaganza Skate-a-Thon at LECOM Sports Park.

For only $5, people were able to enjoy three hours of public skating with other holiday activities such as crafts and meeting Santa.
This year, organizers also held a coat drive to benefit the Mercy Center for Women and Mercy Anchor Community Center.

“It’s very important to teach our rink community and our skaters and hockey players that it is fantastic to give back into our community in Erie,” said Brittany Becker, co-skating director of Lake Erie Sports Alliance.
Becker said they were amazed with the turnout and plan to bring it back every year.
