Natural materials used to create handmade ornaments at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center

A natural ornaments class took place at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center on Saturday afternoon.

A variety of natural items, including nuts, pinecones, leaves and more, were gathered along with artificial items to make holiday-themed ornaments.

Guests were allowed to make as many items as desired.

Ray Bierbower, an environmental education specialist, said this is the sixth year of the event for guests to showcase their creativity.

“Some people kind of expect it this time of year and they’ve been here every year participating in some form with it. It’s a really fun event that we hold here that’s hands-off for us just letting them have stuff that they could find in their own backyard to make something creative,” said Bierbower.

Bierbower added the event brings new people along with some returning every year.
