Horse, several rabbits killed in Chautauqua Co. barn fire

( WJET/WFXP )– Several animals were killed late Sunday night after a fire broke out at a barn in the Town of Stockton, Chautauqua County.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, the Stockton Fire Department along with several mutual aid crews were called to a barn fire in the 6200 block of South Stockton Cassadaga Road around 11:07 Sunday evening.

Once the fire was under control, investigators were called in to determine the cause of the fire by a heat lamp coming in contact with combustible materials.

Unfortunately, police said several rabbits and a horse were not able to make it out and perished in the fire.

Investigators have ruled the fire to be accidental. No other injuries were reported.
