Erie flash mob sing Blasco Library happy birthday in effort to keep library public

December 23 is more than just the day before Christmas Eve, it’s also the birthday of the Blasco Memorial Library.

Folks organized a flash mob to get together and sing Happy Birthday to the library on Erie’s Bayfront.

Many of the people involved are also part of the Keep Our Library Public group and used the opportunity to celebrate the history of the library while also speaking about their cause.

“Today we’re here to recognize Blasco’s 28th birthday. I don’t think anybody else mentioned it, but we have been fighting for the last 14 months to protect her and keep her public. I guess it’s not a her, keep it public,”

The people working with keep our library public are currently raising money to create a documentary and to fight the construction of a water research lab inside of the library.
