( WJET/WFXP ) — As high winds sweep through the region, widespread power outages are being seen. This as numerous reports of wires and trees being downed due to the wind, some blocking traffic and causing major disruptions.
As of 6:20 a.m., First Energy is reporting that 1,800 customers are without power in Erie County. In Crawford County, 1,100 customers are without power. Ohio customers are also being affected, with 2,200 First Energy customers in Ashtabula County without power.
Many of the outages were centered in McKean, parts of Waterford, Union City, Pymatuning, and Oil City.
Due to the sheer amount of outages, estimated times are not available at this time and crews will be assigned to investigate the causes throughout the night.

If you spot downed wires, under no circumstance should you try to touch or approach them at all. Do not try to remove trees or limbs from power lines.
