The new year was a little more than a half-hour old Wednesday when Erie police said gunshots fired in a westside neighborhood wounded two people, one critically.
The victims, a 20-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man, appear to have been leaving a house party at a residence in the 1900 block of West 19th Street when both were shot, Erie police Deputy Chief Rick Lorah said Wednesday morning. The shooting was reported Wednesday at 12:37 a.m., he said.
Police had no suspects in the shooting Wednesday morning.
Officers who responded to the area after multiple 911 calls were made about shots fired found the woman, who had been shot in the head, Lorah said. The woman was taken to the hospital and was last reported to be in critical condition, he said.
The man was taken to the hospital by private vehicle after he was shot through the leg, Lorah said. The man was treated and released, he said.
