Speed restrictions in place on Pa. roadways

(WKBN) – Due to the severity of the ongoing winter weather, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has extended the 45-mph speed reduction to include interstates throughout the northwest region.

The restriction is now in place for the following roadways:

  • Interstate 79 from the I-80 interchange to the ending point in the City of Erie
  • Interstate 80 from the Ohio state line to Exit 42 (Route 38, Emlenton)
  • Interstate 86 from the New York state line to the I-90 interchange
  • Interstate 90 from the Ohio state line to the New York state line

While the speed restriction is in place, commercial vehicles are limited to travel in the right lane only.

Restrictions are communicated via variable message boards, the 511PA traveler information website at www.511PA.com and smartphone apps.

PennDOT asks drivers to use caution and leave space for plow trucks.
