Taylor and Trevor Skellie spent the previous five New Year’s Eves hosting parties at the couple’s Springfield Township home.
They spent New Year’s Eve 2024 at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital in Erie, getting ready to meet their daughter.
Addison Skellie, Erie County’s first baby of 2025, was born Wednesday at 1:45 a.m. She weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces at birth.
“She’s a miracle,” said Taylor Skellie, 24. “My first thought was that this isn’t real, because we were told that we wouldn’t be able to have children. When I saw her, she was just so beautiful.”
The Skellies had tried for years to have children. Taylor Skellie had been diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome, which increases a woman’s risk of pregnancy complications.
Fertility treatments didn’t work but then Skellie visited a hormone peptide therapist.
“She put me on a whole bunch of vitamins and had me start taking Mounjaro,” Skellie said, referring to the injectable diabetes treatment and weight-loss medication.
Skellie lost about 40 pounds, which can increase the likelihood of a successful pregnancy for women with PCOS.
