A local church is asking for winter clothing donations to benefit people in need.
Unity Church on Meadville Street in Edinboro is partnering with the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants to collect donations for the refugee community.

Because of the weather, one of the church’s leaders said they haven’t seen as many donations as they would like and are extending the drive until next Sunday.
She said the drive is a way to build community and help those who are new to the area.

“A lot of the immigrants and refugees that come haven’t seen snow. I know there’s a lot of them that come with families and come with nothing, and a lot of them are in Erie and the children are walking to school in the snow for the first time that they’ve seen it. we’re trying to help out,” said Jenn Shepherd, Unity in Edinboro Spiritual Leader.
Shepherd said anyone can drop off winter clothes or toiletries at their church on Meadville Street or they can drop it off directly at USCRI on East 26th Street.
