Fire officials responded to a fire Tuesday morning resulting in one person being taken to the hospital.
Calls went out for a fire on Hillcrest Avenue in the City of Erie a little after 10 a.m.
City of Erie Chief Fire Marshal Donald Sauer said a man was having trouble with his snowblower and tried to thaw the snowblower with a heat gun.
Sauer said the heat gun started the fire that eventually spread to plastic materials.
“Not a lot of fire damage but there was smoke damage throughout the house mainly because the tires on the snowblower are all totally burned off, the belts, all that other stuff, and there were plastic garbage cans right next to it. When all those plastic rubber materials burn, they produce a lot of smoke,” said Sauer.
Sauer also told us the man was awake and conscious with soot on his face. He was transported to the hospital for possible smoke inhalation.
